Forward Church Renovates Their Facilities After a Fire
Overview of this Project:
- Irvington, AL
- Pastor Justin Driver
- 13,500sq. ft.
Emerging from a fire, stronger than ever
Pastor Justin Driver of the Forward Church in Irvington, AL sought to rebuild his congregation following a destructive fire. In addition to repairing the damage caused by the blaze, he wanted to heighten the building’s curb appeal, creating an even more inviting design for congregants.
Repairing the damage and enhancing curb appeal
Churches by Daniels worked with Forward Church to remediate the fire damage and create a more modern exterior. The project included:
- Fire damage repair
- Hurricane glass on the windows per location requirements
- A variety of exterior finishes to elevate the aesthetics and increase the value of the property
Grant acquisition and material costs
Pastor Driver was in a unique position, as he arrived at Forward Church for his interview on the day of the fire, so he was faced with the challenge of ministering to the congregation through a disaster restoration and building project. We worked with him every step of the way, from planning and designing to repair and value engineering.
In addition to working with the congregation to prepare the budget, we worked closely with the leadership to prepare and meet all requirements to obtain a grant from the Lasko Foundation, an organization that provides funding for many church building projects per year.
Because each window required specialized hurricane glass, we needed to be mindful of the number of windows. Our plan enabled us to limit the number of windows and stay within the congregation’s budget without losing the integrity of the design.
Other financial hurdles included skyrocketing material costs. By seeking creative solutions, we were able to reach beyond our normal scope to ensure expenses didn’t outstrip the congregation’s resources.
