The Vision for Winners’ Chapel
Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Isaac Oyedepo had a vision for their church, Winners’ Chapel: To connect with their community in Maryland and beyond through the life-changing Word of Faith in a new space.
Transforming an Existing Space to House the Heart of a Congregation
Churches by Daniels worked with Winners’ Chapel to rethink and renovate an 80,000 square-foot shopping complex to transform it into the heart of their congregation. This space will include:
- A large, open gathering space and café
- A 1,864-seat sanctuary
- An overflow room
- A bookstore
For younger churchgoers, the new space will also include a Kid’s Zone with:
- A nursery
- Classrooms
- Check-in/check-out stations for safety
- A youth chapel
- A gathering area with a basketball court
- A baptismal room
Additionally, the church will include a fitness center and several multipurpose event spaces to serve the outside community.
Specific Construction Planning Challenges & Solutions
The existing space had potential (and plenty of room!), but required major modifications. The church’s budget would need to address things like low ceilings and columns. Another architectural firm estimated their project would take two whole years to complete.
With Churches by Daniels, the timeframe for building this new church is just four months. Through the church construction planning process, the design and engineering team discovered a cost-effective way to eliminate columns while providing essential structural support using a truss system and applied value engineering principles to save the church $50,000 in soundproofing by using effective alternative methods.
Through ongoing communications between Daniels Construction, architects, civil engineers, tradespeople, and owners, the construction team has achieved the church’s desired results, ensuring everyone is working towards the same goal. The Churches by Daniels team has assisted with legal zoning issues, and despite this being a large, multi-phased project, construction is still happening under budget!
Value Engineering for Your Church Project
Churches by Daniels has worked with churches throughout the country, applying value engineering strategies to their church construction planning processes to provide the spaces congregations need to spread the Word. Check back to discover updates on this exciting project!
