A Vision for a Brand New Space to Grow in Christ
Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls outgrew its facility. The sanctuary was beautiful but too small, and the congregation needed a larger fellowship area and event hall. While the foyer was also small and dark creating an unwelcoming entry, the church needed a Christ-centered worship space that was contemporary and inviting. Amid the requested updates, they wanted to retain important elements like a centrally-focused cross and plenty of learning and gathering space for fellowship.
Creating More Room to Share God’s Word
With limited space for adult classrooms, gathering space, and welcome areas, plus a need for a new recording space, lead pastor Dave Foss and his congregation sought out Churches By Daniels to upgrade their existing structure and blend it seamlessly with new construction. The structure needed to stand up to extreme Minnesota weather.
- A new retention pond
- A more extensive parking area
- An indoor play area
- A café
- An indoor fireplace
- A coat storage room
The new, large structure — scheduled for completion in June of 2022 — will include 25,000 feet of space for a practical, open layout and better flow.
Conquering Construction Planning Challenges
Churches By Daniels knew the existing cross in their current sanctuary was important to the congregation, so we incorporated a similar cross in the new design.
The pre-construction planning phase included land development coordination with their ministry partner, a neighboring private school, to ensure parking, drainage, and other uses, which our team facilitated. Navigating the planning of the expansion meant using the property to make it beneficial for the church and school alike.
The new design will highlight the church’s requests, with plenty of natural light, a modern, welcoming aesthetic, and plenty of space to share in faith and fellowship.
